You know Dr. Foodle loves travelling, I hope you love it, too! If not, then you should! Ever wondered which are the most fattening or unhealthy foods in countries you visit? Well, wonder no more; we‘ve done the research for you. I must admit, some were also surprising to me.
Wondering why your jeans suddenly got too tight after your trip to one of the loveliest countries in the world: Italy? Well, if you‘ve been eating calzones, you better keep in mind it is considered the most fattening traditional food in Italy. That lovely extra dough used to enclose everything inside is actually the amount of dough required to make a pizza for four people! Can your jeans fit four people?! Hm, thought not, but no one said you should skip the experience; just try not to overdo it.
Deep-fried dough with sugar and cinnamon in a sausage-like shape; these delicious delicacies named churros (I love this word for some reason), very often dipped in chocolate, are one of the reasons you should go to Spain and one of the reasons you will gain weight in Spain if you overdo it. It’s worth it; no worries!
France: praline-filled crepe
It’s French, it’s delicious, and it’s fattening but well worth it! I personally haven’t tasted better crepes anywhere else but France – and believe me, I’ve tried them everywhere. A sinful but memorable moment in your trip to France should be you tasting this delicacy. If you find out the magic potion of their recipe, please do let me know!
Cyprus: say cheese or say… halloumi!
Well, it’s my birthplace, so I must boast about one of our few but delicious traditional food products: halloumi! It’s a type of cheese made of a mixture of milks, usually goat and sheep’s milk, and can be tasted in millions of ways. My two favorite ways are grating it over a dish of pasta or grilling it in pita bread with some fresh and tasty tomato. Am I the only one who started drooling?!
