Preheat an oven to 350°F and lightly brush two baking sheets with oil. Set aside.
Add the flour, salt and baking powder in a bowl and mix until well combined.
Add the shortening in a separate mixing bowl and beat with a hand mixer until creamy. Gradually add in the sugar and anise powder while beating constantly until smooth and well combined. Add the eggs and beat continuously until well combined.
Gradually add in the flour mixture and brandy while beating constantly until smooth and well incorporated.
Transfer the dough in a floured work surface and roll out into ½-inch thick round. Cut into desired shapes using a cookie cutter and transfer into the prepared sheets. Gather excess dough, roll out into a thin sheet and form into desired shape. Place it on the cookie sheet and lightly dust with cinnamon and sugar on top.
Bake it in the oven for about 12 to 15 minutes, or until crisp and lightly golden. Remove from the oven, transfer to a wire rack and let it rest to cool for about 10 minutes before serving.
